Nawab Bhikan Khan
1762 - 1763/4 Nawab Bhikan Khan, Nawab of Malerkotla, eldest son of
Nawab Jamal Khan, Nawab of Malerkotla, by his first wife, Nawab Inayat Begum Sahiba, educ.
privately. Succeeded on the death of his father, 1762. Joined Ahmad Shah Durrani
of Afghanistan, in his war against the Sikhs, and received the right to mint his
own coinage. Lost the towns of Sherpur and Bhasaur, as a consequence of his unhappy
alliance. m. as his only wife, Nawab Nadira Begum Sahiba. He was k.
by a Sikh (shot in the back while drinking), at Kotla, 1763/4 (bur. Shahi
Muqbara, Malerkotla), having had issue, two sons:
1)
Nawab Muhammad Wazir 'Ali Khan, Nawab of Malerkotla (s/o Nadira Begum)
2) Sahibzada Fateh Khan (s/o Nadira Begum).
