H.H. Nawab Muhammad Sikander 'Ali Khan Bahadur
1857 - 1871 H.H. Nawab Muhammad Sikander 'Ali Khan Bahadur, Nawab of Malerkotla,
only surviving son of H.H.
Nawab Mahbub 'Ali Khan Bahadur [Sube Khan], Nawab of
Malerkotla, by his first wife, H.H. Nawab Maher Begum Sahiba, educ.
privately.
Appointed as Heir Apparent by his father, December 1848. Served with his father
in the Mutiny campaigns at Ludhiana, 1857. Succeeded on the death of his father, 25th November 1857 (recog. By the GOI, 14th May 1858). Installed
at Kasauli, 18th May 1858. Reigned with limited powers until invested
with full ruling powers, 5th March 1862. . Granted a sanad of
adoption, 5th March 1862. Granted a permanent salute of 9-guns, 31st May 1863. m. (first) 1842, H.H. Nawab Karamat un-nisa Begum Sahiba, daughter
of Khan Imam 'Ali Khan. m. (second) 1862, Bu-Allah Jawaria Begum Sahiba (d.s.p.),
sister of Muhammad Husain Khan. m. (third) 1865, a daughter of Alf Khan Nusrat
Khani. He d. at Malerkotla, 16th July 1871 (bur. there
at the Shahi Muqbara), having had issue, two sons and one daughter (succ.
by his adopted son):
1) Nawabzada Ghaus Muhammad
Khan Bahadur. b. at Malerkotla, 20th December 1849 (s/o
Karamat un-nisa), educ. privately. Appointed as Heir Apparent, 18th May 1858. He
d. from smallpox, 2nd January 1860.
2) Nawabzada Roshan 'Ali
Khan Bahadur. b. at Malerkotla, 11th October 1861 (s/o
Karamat un-nisa). Appointed as Heir Apparent at birth. He d. 1863.
1) Sahibzadi … Begum (d/o
the third wife). Lived for ten days
